GBIC Transceivers
GBIC stands for gigabit interface converter, which is the first generation of pluggable optical transceivers.
Its emergence is a milestone in the history of optical modules and optical communications. Compared to fixed physical interface optical transceivers, GBIC brought up a great flexibility and cost-effective option in network equipment connectivity.
GBIC is an early optical module form factor, and most system manufacturers have stopped producing GBIC interface network equipment and GBIC optical modules. EQNET is one of the few companies that still provides GBIC optical modules to customers who need to maintain older network equipment.
